Part-Time Sales Team Member — Texas Tech Retail Red Raider Outfitter | Lubbock, TX | Part-Time | In Person ABOUT RED RAIDER OUTFITTER We've been Lubbock's home for Texas Tech gear since 1975. We created the original Wreck 'Em Tech game day shirt in the early '90s — Texas Tech picked it up after us. This year marks the 27th edition of that tradition.
For a lot of our guests, walking into our store is part of the Texas Tech experience: a parent buying their freshman's first shirt, an alum back for homecoming, a family driving in for their first game at The Jones (Now the Galaxy! )
Our brand promise: We deliver superior Texas Tech products with game day spirit each and every day.
Your job is to make that promise real for every person who walks in.
WHAT YOU'LL DO Host guests. Greet everyone using our standard. Ask what they're shopping for. Learn their story. Walk them through the store instead of pointing.
Sell with substance. Know the product. Recommend sizes, styles, and gifts with real confidence.
Keep the floor show-ready. Fold, size, recover, replenish, restock — between every guest.
Stay onstage. Phone stays in the designated box. Focus goes to guests, not screens or side conversations.
Take ownership. Notice what needs doing and do it without waiting to be told twice.
Do the right thing when nobody's watching. This one matters most.
Take coaching and adjust immediately. Not defensively. Not eventually. Immediately.
Show up for the big days. Game weekends, move-in, graduation, holidays. These are why we exist.
WHAT WE REQUIRE - Show up. Reliable attendance, on time, ready to work.
- Talk to strangers on purpose. Greeting guests is the job, not a personality trait.
- Own your mistakes without blaming teammates or pointing at what someone else got away with.
- Hold energy for a full shift — including the slow hours.
- Be physically ready to stand, walk, fold, lift, and move merchandise throughout your shift.
- Have reliable transportation to your assigned store.
Retail experience is not required. We'll teach you product, register, sizing, and merchandising. We can't teach reliability, courage, or integrity — bring those with you.
Texas Tech enthusiasm is a plus. Turning it into professional guest service is the actual skill.
THE ONSTAGE STANDARD When you're on our sales floor, you're onstage.
Onstage means: greeting guests, recovering product, helping teammates, staying visible and available.
Onstage does not mean: phone in hand, scrolling, texting, videoing, leaning on the counter, hiding in the back, or waiting for a guest to approach you first.
We review and sign off on these standards during your first three days of training, and we hold them from that point forward.
AVAILABILITY — PLEASE READ CAREFULLY Retail schedules are not classroom schedules. You may be scheduled for:
- Weekdays and weekends
- Opening and closing shifts
- Every home football weekend (Friday–Sunday)
- Move-in weekend, graduation, tax-free weekend
- Extended holiday hours through December
These are blackout dates. They are the busiest and most important days of our year. Time off is not available during blackout periods.
Before you apply, check your fall syllabus. If your exam schedule or activity commitments conflict with home football weekends, tell us during the interview — not after you're hired.
YOUR FIRST 30 DAYS The first 30 days are an active evaluation window — not a settling-in period.
We're watching for:
- Reliability — you show up, on time, prepared
- Courage — you greet guests before you feel ready
- Coachability — you take correction and change immediately
- Urgency — you move with purpose, including on slow days
- Integrity — you hold the standard when leadership isn't nearby
- Ownership — you see what needs doing and act
We don't expect perfection on Day 1.
We do expect effort, honesty, and visible growth by Day 3. If it's not the right fit, we'll tell you early and directly. That's a promise we make to every person we hire.
