Job Description

Job Summary

Provide assistant responsible for assisting the Purchasing Manager by coordinating the procurement of materials, supplies and equipment for multiple construction projects.  This position works closely with project managers, field personnel, vendors and the warehouse to ensure materials are ordered accurately, delivered on time, and properly documented.  The Purchasing Agent plays a key role in maintaining project schedules, controlling costs, and ensuring purchasing procedures are followed.  

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Highlight the responsibilities. Assist the Purchasing Manager with the day-to-day purchasing operations.
  • Outline the day-to-day activities of the position.  
  • Process Material requests from Project Managers, Superintendents, and field personnel.
  • Obtain pricing and availability from approved vendors.
  • Prepare, issue and maintain purchase orders.
  • Verify purchase order accuracy, including quantities, pricing and delivery dates.
  • Coordinate material deliveries to job sites and company facilities.
  • Track and follow up on open purchase orders to ensure timely delivery.
  • Communicate with Vendors regarding orders, returns, credits, and warranty issues. 
  • Work closely with the warehouse and field personnel to ensure materials are received,
  • Support Project Managers by providing updates on material status and anticipated delivery     schedules.
  • Perform other purchasing and administrative duties as assigned.

  • Ability to read and interpret material lists, job specifications, and purchase documentation. 
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills 
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with office staff and field personnel.
  • Professional demeanor with strong follow-up and communication skills.
